Siemens PLM Software (Plano, TX) released its no-charge 3D visualization solution, JT2Go (download).

Now users can more effectively work with digital models created in the JT format, the PLM industry's most widely used lightweight 3D data format for product visualization, collaboration and CAD interoperability. Today's announcement, combined with the increasingly widespread usage of JT, will result in enhanced collaboration and cost savings for manufacturers and suppliers worldwide.

The new release of JT2Go contains several additional features that were previously only available through a purchased license of the visualization component of Siemens PLM Software's Teamcenter digital lifecycle management software. They include viewing product manufacturing information (PMI) directly off the digital model; new sophisticated measurement tools make accurate dimensional information readily available to the end user; and the ability to cross-section JT models.

The JT data format serves as a common 3D language for enabling multi-CAD product visualization and information sharing between PLM software applications, making it possible to view and share product data, manufacturing information and interactive images worldwide, in real-time and throughout all phases of the product lifecycle.
