SpaceClaim 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1) includes a number of enhancments, including new tools, interface options, new translators.

New features in the Prepare tab for SpaceClaim Engineer include:

  • The new Midsurface tool, which expedites the creation of midsurface geometry in sheet metal and plastic parts. It automatically discovers pairs of thin faces, lets you choose what faces to include or exclude, and creates a midsurface.
  • The new Stitch tool, which uses an enhanced algorithm to rapidly heal and merge face fragments that do not initially appear as solid.
  • The new Simplify tool, which converts complicated surfaces into simple ones, where possible.
  • Many enhancements to improve existing modeling tools: spline curves can be closed but non-periodic, which helps with airfoil design; control polygons allow an alternative technique of spline editing; and edge pull, pattern editing, and sheet metal parts handle more cases.
  • New User Interface options allow SpaceClaim to better emulate how other 3D tools spin and zoom.
  • New translators allow import of tessellated formats.
  • Import, modify, and export precise geometry to 3D PDF files (requires Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended).
  • When used in a floating license environment, SpaceClaim can now float translators across different workstations, so SpaceClaim seats do not need to be identically configured.
