Third Wave Systems, Inc. plans to announce plans to release an updated version of its machining simulation software, AdvantEdge FEM, in August of 2009.

AdvantEdge FEM is a materials-based CAE software solution for the optimization and analysis of metal machining, providing users with information about heat flow, temperatures, stresses, tool life, and surface characteristics for machining processes.

According to Third Wave Systems, the benefits to using the AdvantEdge FEM software include:

  • Increased material removal rates
  • Improved tool life
  • predicted chip shape
  • shortened product design cycles
  • reduced trial and error testing
