The center in Michigan will service the automotive and industrial fields.

Germany-based voxeljet has announced it will be opening a U.S. 3D printing service center for on-demand printing. The company has also appointed David Tait as general manager of the center.

The center, based in Canton, MI, will provide printing of parts, molds, cores and models for the automotive and industrial fields. A company press release states that it expects the center to open during the third quarter.

As general manager, Tait will oversee the staff, and expand sales and marketing. He has worked at Raidan Precision Inc., and is a founder of the rapid prototyping company Laserform.

“We are pleased to have David joining us at voxeljet. His hiring marks an important milestone for the company in establishing our presence in the U.S.,” said Dr. Ingo Ederer, voxeljet’s chief executive officer. “Our U.S. service center will allow us to serve the growing 3D printing needs of the auto industry, as well as other industrial manufacturers in the United States. David’s experience is highly relevant and will play a key role in the success of our sales and marketing efforts in the U.S. We welcome him to the voxeljet team.”
