Special Focus Issue: Artificial Intelligence in Simulation

May 29, 2025

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly emerged as an important tool in a number of engineering workflows. Within the past few years, most of the major CAD and simulation software vendors have deployed AI and machine learning within their product suite, or at least announced their plans to do so.

In some cases, that has meant the addition of an AI-based chatbot for support. In others, AI tools are helping to create reduced order models (ROMs) to enable rapid simulations during the early stages of design. There are also tools that use AI for design for additive manufacturing; for creating manufacturing toolpaths; and for quality inspection and assurance.

In this Special Focus Issue of Digital Engineering, our writers examine the latest trends in AI for engineering. We hope you enjoy the issue.
