SolidWorks World 2019 announces keynote speaker

This year, one of SolidWorks World's keynotes will be delivered by someone who has been drafted into the NFL and has also flown in space.

Attendees can also expect to hear company visions and directions from Gian Paolo Bassi, CEO of SolidWorks; and Bernard Charles, CEO of Dassault Systemes (SolidWorks' parent company).

The event will feature an XR Zone for people to test-drive cutting edge virtual reality and augmented reality systems and software. SolidWorks 2019 offers the ability to export AR-/VR-ready format for AR/VR viewing from the modeling environment itself.

Carbon unveils new 3D printer

Known for its Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) technology, Carbon unveils a new L1 printer, a larger system to augment its existing medium size M series printers.

An early adopter has begun using it to produce protective sports equipment.

NanoDimension demos DragonFly

3D maker NanoDimension showcases PCB printing with its DragonFly 3D printer at the IPC APEX EXPO 2019.

ANSYS release ANSYS 2019 R1

Simulations software maker ANSYS releases ANSYS 2019 R1, highlighting new features in its ANSYS Fluent CFD solver, along with tools to simulate additive manufacturing processes.

As a nod to the importance of electronics design in the IoT era, the software also includes a series of Electromagnetics simulation features to design for 5G network connected devices.

In structural analysis, the software includes a cloud-solve option, which lets you purchase and use remote computing power to process your simulation so your local workstation doesn’t get tied up during the simulation job.
