Ferretti Group to Deploy Siemens Teamcenter, NX and Fibersim Software for Yacht Design

Ferretti Group, a motor yacht and pleasure vessel company, has selected solutions from Siemens’ product lifecycle management (PLM) software business to help further optimize the design and production of its Ferretti Yachts and CRN brand. Ferretti Group will deploy Teamcenter software and NX software, an integrated solution for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis. Ferretti Group will also leverage the Fibersim portfolio to further enhance its composites design and production processes.

According to a press release, Ferretti Group selected Siemens PLM Software for its ability to collect the product design data from different PLM players in one open platform. This decision is in line with the new business strategy of the Italian Group which has undertaken a series of investments aimed at the production of new boats.

"We have traditionally relied on our deep knowledge of yacht design coupled with the finest expertise in hand-crafted production,” said Giuliano Capizzi, Ferretti Group chief information officer. “We now need to digitally capture that knowledge and automate production to enhance global efficiency and data security. With Siemens’ PLM solution for ship design, we can reduce time and costs by digitalizing our entire process, making product data instantly available through Teamcenter, not only within the production process, but also to the entire company. And using NX, we expect to significantly accelerate product design and construction for new ships and boats.”

Ferretti Yachts produces fiberglass flybridge vessels from 45 to 96 ft., while CRN is specialized in the design and construction of fully-custom steel and aluminum yachts up to 100 meters in length.

To maintain its completive edge, Ferretti Group is replacing its legacy CAD software with NX to establish a fully integrated 3D product development process for CRN and Ferretti Yachts. Both of these brands will use Teamcenter to provide all pertinent employees with immediate access to the information needed for rapid assessment, decision-making and re-use of best practices.
