Mentor Graphics Corporation (Wilsonville, OR) acquired Flomerics Group PLC, a UK-based supplier of CFD analysis products, in early October.

The Flomerics company will become the Mechanical Analysis Division.

This acquisition not only complements Mentor’s offerings in printed circuit board (PCB) systems design with advanced electronic cooling thermal analysis capabilities typically used by mechanical engineers, but broadens Mentor’s product offerings into the engineering fluid dynamics (EFD) market for MCAD analysis. With superior ease-of-use and tight integration into all leading mechanical design systems, the EFD products are targeted at mechanical designers versus requiring the expertise of a specialist. Applications for EFD include complex fluid flow analysis of pumps, valves, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, heating and refrigeration systems, and consumer appliances.
