NAFEMS and McKinsey & Co. thank in advance those interested in contributing to their joint survey that is aimed at shaping the future of digital engineering, according to the organizations.

As a collaborative effort between NAFEMS and McKinsey & Co., the two organizations are jointly conducting this survey to get a granular understanding of the current maturity and breadth of use of simulation technologies across the automotive industry. “In this context, it is important for us to understand the key use cases and value drivers of virtual modelling and simulation,” NAFEMS and McKinsey noted in press materials.

To achieve a broad perspective on these topics, this survey addresses users of simulation technologies as well as providers of relevant tools. Based on this survey and the results, the two groups report they “hope to drive impact and boost innovation in the automotive industry and subsequently expand the scope to other industries.”

The survey emcompasses classical engineering simulation (ES) based on (multi-)physics methodologies focused on solving partial differential equations (e.g., finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics) as well as artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML)-based technologies that leverage data to predict product/system/component performance. When the organizations refer to AI/ML-based methods, it is noted that these methods are not considered as a replacement of multiphysics technologies, but rather as complementing with their own benefits and drawbacks.

When completing the survey, those interested are asked to focus on the best and most advanced tools currently being used in your company in 2024.

This survey should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.Responses are completely anonymous and confidential.
