This week, Wayland Additive announced a partnership. The agreement will add Wayland's Calibur3 AM system into Autodesk Fusion’s machine library. Wayland hopes the integration will make its NeuBeam Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-EB) process more accessible.
According to the announcement, the partnership enables full compatibility between Autodesk Fusion, Autodesk's mainstream CAD/CAM software, and Calibur3, Wayland’s metal AM hardware. This will allow users to easily perform design modifications, build setup, support generation, and slicing to prepare files destined for printing in Wayland’s machine.
The integration is supported for both Windows and macOS. "While machine operation still requires a PC at the point of production, this dramatically broadens access to the Calibur3 workflow and opens the door to a much larger user community," Wayland writes.
Darrin Dickinson, Head of Business Development (EMEA) at Wayland Additive, says, “For too long, users of advanced PBF-EB systems have been limited by fragmented software ecosystems. That’s changed. With this integration, our customers now have a seamless, modern interface to prepare, optimise, and execute builds on Calibur3, making it easier than ever to harness the power of NeuBeam.”
Dickinson also points out, "We’ve worked with the Autodesk team for years, collaborating behind the scenes to ensure a robust and valuable integration. This is not a superficial plugin; this is a deep technical partnership that’s delivering real value to users."
According to Wayland, "By neutralising negative ion build up in the powder bed, NeuBeam effectively prevents smoke events during the build process, eliminating the need for pre-sintering the powder bed."
