Keysight Technologies, Inc. has completed its acquisition of the Optical Solutions Group from Synopsys, Inc., and PowerArtist from Ansys, Inc. These acquisitions help expand Keysight’s design engineering software portfolio and computer-aided engineering capabilities, Keysight Technologies reports.
The Optical Solutions Group, a developer of optical design and analysis software tools, brings intelligent, predictive optical design tools to Keysight, such as CODE V for imaging systems design, LightTools for illumination design, LucidShape for automotive lighting design, ImSym for imaging systems virtual prototyping, and RSoft photonic device tools for electromagnetic simulations of photonic and optoelectronic devices, Keysight Technologies reports.
PowerArtist specializes in presynthesis power analysis and provides a comprehensive register-transfer-level (RTL) design-for-power platform used for early-stage power analysis and reduction of semiconductor designs, across a range of end industry applications.
In separate but related news, Synopsys reported that it has received approval from all necessary authorities to proceed with the planned, previously-announced divestitures of the Optical Solutions Group and PowerArtist businesses to Keysight Technologies.
These divestitures were determined by regulatory authorities to be a necessary step related to Synopsys' acquisition of Ansys, which successfully closed on July 17, 2025. Synopsys expected to complete these divestitures on or about October 17, 2025.
These strategic acquisitions are backed by a team of engineers and scientists with deep domain expertise in photonics, optics, power analysis, and multiphysics simulation, according to Keysight Technologies. The teams joining from the Optical Solutions Group and PowerArtist bring decades of technical leadership, advancing Keysight’s system-level simulation capabilities.
"Keysight is expanding its high-performance, multi-physics design capabilities with the Optical Solutions Group and PowerArtist acquisitions," says Niels Faché, senior vice president of Keysight’s Design Engineering Software. "These additions enhance system-level simulation, enabling earlier, more accurate power, optical, and photonics design decisions."
